SALEM, IL — A 23-year-old Salem man was arrested Sunday by Salem police after he was allegedly caught trying to break into a home in the 100 block of Allmon Street.

According to police, around 8:11 p.m. Sunday, a woman called to report someone trying to break into her home and is in her backyard.

Officers arrived and took Jesse Lily into custody. Lily was taken into custody on charges of attempted residential burglary and criminal damage to property.
