CENTRALIA, IL — No serious injuries were reported Thursday morning when a school bus carrying Raccoon Grade School children was struck from behind by a pickup truck on Route 161 just west of the Illinois Route 37 intersection.

According to the Salem Fire Protection District, the crash was reported just before 8 a.m. Thursday. Reports say the pickup truck hit the school bus with enough force that the glass in the back exploded into shards that struck a few of the 20 students on board. It appears the bus was stopped to pick up two students when it when the pickup truck struck it from behind.

The two students being picked up were far enough away from the bus when it was struck by the bus that they were not injured
