MT. VERNON, IL — A 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested a variety of charges including possession of child pornography.

According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, officers responded the afternoon of May 5yh to 208 S. 2nd Street in Mt. Vernon. to investigate a domestic violence complaint. The initial investigation determined the crime had taken place earlier the same day at 606 Jordan Ave in Mt. Vernon.

As a result of this investigation, MVPD officers arrested 26-year-old Zachary E. Terry of Mt. Vernon for alleged Aggravated Domestic Battery.

That charge led to a petition to revoke his probation on a previous Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine conviction on May 12th. His bond was set at $25,000 on those two charges. As police continued their investigation, they reportedly discovered evidence indicating Terry was possibly in possession of child pornography. MVPD officers requested the assistance of JCSO Detectives assigned to the Department of Homeland Security Cybercrimes Task Force. Evidence was collected and forensically examined.

The results of that examination led to Terry being charged May 18th while still in custody at the Jefferson County Jail on the original Aggravated Domestic Battery charge with Possession / Reproduction of Child Pornography, victim under 13.
