James A. Winkler, 90, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 1:37 am May 1, 2022.
James was born March 8, 1932 in Peoria, Illinois to Earl Logan Winkler and Pearl Effie Loss. James married Betty Ruth Bowdler Winkler and they were blessed with 67 years of marriage. She survives.
In addition to his loving wife of many years, James is survived by his Army Veteran daughter, Janie R. Ruhl of Georgia; Marine Veteran son, James E. Winkler and wife, Debbie of Kentucky; son, John A. Winkler of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Amanda R. Gilbert and fiance, Matt Bond of Walnut Hill; grandchildren, Rachel Mulloy and husband, James, Billy Ruhl and wife, Brandy, Jimmy Winkler and wife, Cassie, Kamerine Ruhl, Lacey Henderson and husband, Jason, Elma Gilbert and Brenden Kellerman, Brittany Winkler, Shawn Anthony Winkler; great- grandchildren, David, Adam, Mason, Evan, Jacob, Gabe, Avery, Aubrey, Jillian, Stella, Desman and Kash.James was preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Harris; brothers, Marshall “T-Tie” Winkler, Chuck Winkler, and Frank Winkler; and several other siblings.James served this country as an Army Veteran and he was a survivor of the Battle of Seokhye dong Northern Hill also known as Pork Chop Hill in the Korean Conflict. James also worked as a truck driver for over 50 years.
A Memorial graveside service will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10:00 am at Hopewell Cemetery. There will be full military rights by the American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.
