SALEM, IL — A 44-year-old Salem man was arrested over the weekend when Salem police officers were investigating an abandoned vehicle on the Nature Trail. Andrew Norman was wanted on an Effingham County warrant when he returned to the vehicle and informed police it belonged to him.
Police ran his name and discovered the warrant on a felony possession of methamphetamine charge. As they were taking Norman into custody on the warrant, officers reportedly found he was in possession of capsules suspected to contain fentanyl. Additional capsules were reportedly found in his vehicle.
Norman was taken to the Marion County Jail on charges of possessing a controlled substance and on the outstanding $7,500 Effingham County warrant.
