ZEIGLER, IL — A man has been charged in Franklin County with home invasion and residential burglary following a reported home invasion in Zeigler Friday. According to a post on the Zeigler Police Department’s Facebook page, Derik Parrish was charged with the offenses Monday.

On Friday, Zeigler Police Chief Ben Burkhamer was sent to a home invasion in progress on Baggott Street in Zeigler, When he arrived a male subject, later identified as Parrish, fled out the back door of the home to a nearby wooded area. With help from nearby law enforcement agencies, the area was cordoned off and Parrish was apprehended and taken to the Franklin County Jail in short order.

Zeigler Police say Parrish is also a suspect in several other residential burglaries as well as catalytic converter thefts. His bond was set at $200,000.
