MT. VERNON, IL — Law Enforcement and Emergency Management officials in Jefferson County have all partnered together to host a chicken dinner benefit for the family of a fallen Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher & Lieutenant with Jefferson Fire Protection District Travis Settle is helping to organize the event. He says Deputy Riley is a hero and his family deserves to have neighboring first responders have their back in this time of need.
Deputy Riley was killed in the line of duty while responding to a motorists assist call in late December of 2021.
The benefit will run from 12-6pm on Saturday, March 5th at the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge. Tickets are $13 for dine-in, drive-thru, or carryout meals. Visit Jefferson Fire Protection District for more information or call Travis Settle at 618-214-4769.
