MT. VERNON, IL — A 32-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested early Monday morning when around 6:30 members of the Mt Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department High Risk Team served a knock and announce search warrant at 2310 Logan in Mt Vernon.

Xavier M Wesley, was taken into custody on charges of Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver Between 1-15 Grams, Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver Between 30-500 grams and Possession of Drug Equipment. Wesley has been incarcerated in the Jefferson County Justice Center with bond to be set.

The Jefferson County search warrant was obtained after an investigation by members of the Mt Vernon Police Department / Jefferson County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit indicated illegal narcotics were being sold from the residence. The residence was secured without incident. During a search of the residence, detectives located quantities of cocaine, cannabis, drug equipment, and packaging materials. Wesley was already facing a Class 1 felony charge in Jefferson County Court for possession of between 100 and 400 grams of heroin.

He was arrested in that case in August 2021 and is next due in court on the case at the end of March.
