BENTON, IL — A date has been set for the dedication and commissioning  ceremony for the new Franklin County Courthouse in Benton.

According to the Benton/West City Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held on Friday,        April 22 at 11 a.m. Following the event there will be tours available of the three-story courthouse for those attending.

A 48-page commemorative booklet will also be published that will contain editorial content and many pictures of the old courthouse, the demolition and a variety of pictures of the different phases of the new construction. A copy of the booklet will be given free to everybody who tours the new courthouse.

A souvenir coin, with a picture of the old courthouse on one side and the new courthouse on the other, will be given to everybody who takes the tour.

Refreshments will be available free after the tour.
