CENTRALIA, IL — An early Monday morning fire destroyed a vacant home at #2 Edgebrook Lane in Centralia.

According to Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera, a resident of a nearby apartment complex on Fairway Drive reported the fire just before 5 a.m. Monday. The call was originally dispatched to Centralia City Fire but upon their arrival they noted the home was in the Fire Protection District and they were called to the scene.

Also upon their arrival, firefighters noticed flames coming from the roof of the two-story structure. Boshera says the home appeared to be in the process of being remodeled but was a total loss.

Firefighters remained on the scene for about two-and-a-half hours. There were no injuries reported.
