MARION COUNTY, IL — A 24-year-old Odin man has been charged in Marion County Court Monday with felony fleeing police for an alleged high-speed chase last week after Centralia’s police chief was reportedly run off the road. Taylor Moore was formally charged Monday with Class 4 felony aggravated fleeing police and misdemeanor reckless driving.
According to Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson, who was off duty while driving his city issued vehicle on Green Street Road near Dogwood Lane, says Moore almost ran him into a ditch. A pursuit ensued with Moore reportedly fleeing down Lagoon Road to Walnut Hill Road where he pulled into a driveway occupied by a parked Marion County Sheriff’s squad car. The sheriff’s deputy had apparently responded to the Walnut hill address on a disturbance call. Moore was reportedly speeding to the home where he intended to get into a fight with his brother. Instead, Moore was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.
Moore is scheduled for a first appearance in court on January 10th.
