ILLINOIS (RFD) — The archery deer season got off to a slow start in Illinois, but things have picked up in recent weeks. An update from Tim Schweizer with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The top five counties for archery deer harvest through Nov. 14 were Pike (1,635), Jefferson (1,224), Fulton (1,156), Adams (1,066), and Macoupin (920). The archery season began on Oct. 1 and runs through January 16. Archery deer season is closed during the firearm deer weekends Nov. 19-22 and Dec. 2-5 except in those counties where firearm deer hunting is not permitted.
