MT. VERNON, IL — An October 11th burglary investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has lead to the arrest of a Salem man Sunday. Law enforcement authorities in Marion County arrested 23-year-old Tristan N. Rankin of Salem on a Jefferson County warrant charging him with Burglary.

According to reports, a complaint was filed by the owners of the southern Illinois Fair and Expo grounds on N. Wells Bypass in Rural Mt. Vernon reported a John Deere tractor being stolen from one of the buildings. Sheriff’s Office Detectives worked with Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to locate and recover the tractor at an address in the rural Salem. Rankin was identified as the offender who took the tractor and after submitting the investigation to the Jefferson County State’s Attorney, an arrest warrant was issued.

He was housed in the Marion County Jail on the warrant with a $30,000 bond.
