SALEM, IL — A 22-year-old Salem man is being held in the Marion County Jail following his arrest over the weekend for alleged armed robbery and possession of a weapon by a felon. According to the Salem Police Department, Kemper Hotze allegedly pulled a large kitchen knife on a man Saturday night in the Huck’s parking lot on West Main in Salem.

Hotze is alleged to have pulled the knife from his sweatshirt before pointing it at a man in a car and taking $100. Salem police responded to the scene and Hotze was taken into custody. The $100 was reportedly recovered and no injuries were reported.

Hotze remains in jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bond.
