SALEM, IL — An SUV vs. Motorcycle crash Sunday evening on US Route 50 in Salem sent two to hospitals with injuries.

A preliminary investigation by the Illinois State Police indicates 68-year-old Randall Kline of Salem was traveling west in his GMC Yukon on US 50 near Selmaville Road just outside of Salem. 64-year-old Jimmy Gelsinger of Brownstown was traveling east at the same location on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Kline attempted to turn left onto Selmaville Road and failed to yield to Gelsinger. The motorcycle struck the SUV on the passenger side, ejecting Gelsinger from his bike. Kline was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while Gelsinger had to be flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Kline was cited for Failure to Yield while Turning Left.
