NASHVILLE, IL — A high-speed pursuit that started in Nashville, Illinois and ended in Herrin Saturday night has landed a 45-year-old Wilsonville, Illinois man in hot water in numerous jurisdictions.

According to the Nashville Police Department, at approximately 9:21 p.m. Saturday, an NPD officer observed a red Pontiac Torrent SUV commit a traffic violation while southbound on South Mill Street. A registration check on the vehicle showed that the vehicle had just been entered as stolen out of Montgomery County less than an hour earlier. Police attempted to initiate a stop on the vehicle as it began turning into the Casey’s parking lot.

The vehicle then quickly sped out of Casey’s and back onto South Mill Street southbound at a high rate of speed. NPD continued behind the stolen vehicle at speeds over 100 mph southbound on State Route 127. NPD continued into Perry County where they received assistance from Perry County agencies. The vehicle continued to flee at high rates of speed into Franklin County where NPD and Perry County agencies discontinued their pursuit. The stolen vehicle was then intercepted by Franklin County agencies and then Williamson County Agencies. The vehicle continued fleeing at high rates of speeds through those counties, as well.

The vehicle subsequently crashed into another vehicle and came to rest at Casey’s in Herrin. Authorities then took a male suspect into custody and additionally transported to an area hospital. The male suspect found to have several outstanding warrants and a revoked driver’s license. He is also the suspect in the theft of the stolen vehicle.

NPD will have a list of multiple charges for the suspect when he is released from custody from the multiple jurisdictions involved in this incident.
