Jackie L. Rowley, 68, of Carlinville, Illinois, passed away at 5:09 pm October 5, 2021 at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. She was born December 30, 1952 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late James and Mary (Risley) Stain. Jackie married Jim Rowley on July 18, 1975.
In addition to her beloved husband of forty-six years, Jackie is survived by her son, Josh Rowley and wife, Shelly of Washington, Illinois; grandchildren, Hailey Harris of Gillespie, Illinois, Alijah Rowley, Aynslie Rowley; brothers, Jimmy Lee Strain and wife, Janice of Bonnie, Illinois, John Thomas “Tommie” Strain and wife, Pat of Bonnie, Illinois; sister, Dessie Sanders of Woodlawn, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rowley family would like to send a special thank you to two special guardian angels during Jackie’s hospitalization, Chelsea Harrison, RN and Dallas Wright, MD.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jamie Rowley Manes; brother-in-law, Melvin Sanders; and sister-in-Law, Estella Strain.
Jackie started singing when she was three years old and had a love for music that she shared with everyone through the years. She played piano, taught piano lessons, played in a gospel band, and traveled and sang with her best friend, Melanie Walker. She served at many churches as pianist and musical director. She could often be found humming a tune or writing a jingle. Jackie had a spirit of hospitality and loved cooking, baking, and taking care of every one around her. Being a wife, mother, and MeMe was her entire world.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin 2:30 pm with Mr. Jason Newell and Reverend Dennis Day officiating. Interment will follow at Kirk Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Jackie’s honor to Assembly of God Church in Sorento, Illinois.
