MT. VERNON, IL —The Police Department arrested an 18-year-old local man after a burglar alarm called them to a Mt. Vernon liquor store Sunday.

The MVPD Dispatch Center received a notification of the alarm around 2:20am at the Times Square Liquors Store on Salem Road. Upon officer’s arrival a vehicle sped from the scene and Grant French, was located near the business. Law enforcement found forced entry to the building and stolen property outside. A Crime Scene Technician was called out to assist patrol officers with the investigation, which led to French being charged with one count of Burglary. He was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Justice Center and is being held on $30,000 bond.
