CENTRALIA, IL — A high-speed pursuit Saturday night led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Mt. Vernon man on multiple charges.

According to police, around 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Centralia police attempted to stop Jonathan Wallace on a traffic violation at Pleasant and Route 161 but instead he reportedly fled. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies joined Centralia police officers in the pursuit that continued at high speeds into Jefferson County where his vehicle crashed and he was taken into custody.

He was being held in the Marion County Jail on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and speeding.
