MARION, IL — Saturday marks 20 years since the 9/11 attacks in New York, at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, PA. With that said, the 17th annual “Veterans on Parade” takes place Saturday along Main Street in Marion.

Ed Davis, President of the Veterans on Parade organization, says they started this parade to showcase veterans, honor them and thank them for their service along with their families too because they sacrifice just as much as the soldier, sailor, airman or marine who goes away. He says the parade helps keeps the plight of the veteran in the public eye.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Main Street and end at the Williamson County Fairgrounds where a memorial ceremony will be held honoring all veterans, first responders, medical personnel, 9/11 heroes, and most importantly those men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice serving our great country.

If you would like to participate in this year’s parade, contact Ed Davis at 314-375-7170, 618-967-9415 or email edward2791@att.net. You can also find more information on the Veterans on Parade Facebook page.
