SALEM, IL — A 50-year-old Salem man is in the Marion County Jail following his arrest Tuesday for allegedly striking another man with a baseball bat. According to Salem police, they responded to an incident in the Cottonwood Village Apartments Tuesday where Larry Woodward allegedly broke the windshield of a 22-year-old Salem man’s car and then allegedly struck him with the bat in the upper arm and abdomen area.

The man reportedly went on his own to the Salem Township Hospital for treatment. Woodward was later located and arrested at his home on charges of criminal damage to property and aggravated battery.

He remains in the Marion County Jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
