JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL — A Mt. Vernon man had his bond set in Jefferson County Court Wednesday after a crash Monday revealed he was in illegal possession of drugs. 32-year-old Xavier Wesley’s bond is set at $75,000 after formerly being charged with Possession of between 100-400 grams of cocaine.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded Monday in the mid-afternoon to a report of a single vehicle crash in the area of East Illinois Highway 15 west of Dutch Lane. Upon their arrival and during the initial investigation, Wesley was discovered to be the driver of the crashed 1992 Mercedes. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Litton’s Ambulance Service with non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation at the crash site revealed Wesley was in possession of illegal drugs. Members of the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Unit responded to assist.

The vehicle was towed from the crash site. Upon release from the hospital, Wesley was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
