MT. VERNON, IL — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded Monday in the mid-afternoon to a report of a single vehicle crash in the area of East IL Hwy 15 west of Dutch Lane.

Upon their arrival and during the initial investigation, the driver of the crashed 1992 Mercedes was determined to be 32-year-old Xavier M. Wesley of Mt. Vernon. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Litton Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation at the crash site revealed Wesley was in possession of illegal drugs. Members of the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Unit responded to assist. The vehicle was towed from the crash site. Upon release from the hospital, Wesley was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.

He was incarcerated with bond to be set by a judge on the felony charge of Manufacture / Deliver 100<400 grams of cocaine.
