CARBONDALE, IL — A memorial service is set for tonight on the SIU campus for 18-year-old Keeshanna Jackson of Chicago, who died after being shot at a party being held at a home in the 500 block of West Cherry Street in Carbondale Sunday.
The service will start at 6:30 in the Student Center Ballrooms on the SIU campus.
According to a Carbondale Police report, when officers arrived at the home, they found that Jackson – a freshman at SIU – had been shot and attempted life resuscitation measures. She was later pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Three others were also shot at the same location and went to the hospital’s emergency room to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say there were multiple active shooters. There is still no suspect information available at this time.
Carbondale Police along with SIU Police continue to investigate.
