CARBONDALE, IL — Carbondale Police Monday afternoon released more details into a weekend shooting that killed a SIU student. According to police, they identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Keeshanna Jackson of Chicago.
When police arrived at a home where a party was being held in the 500 block of West Cherry Street early Sunday morning, they found Jackson and attempted life resuscitation measures. She was later pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Three other victims from the same location showed up at the ER with gunshot wounds. They were 29-year-old Jyrin Blair of Marion, 23-year-old Raheem Sylas of Murphysboro and a juvenile from Marion. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say there were multiple active shooters. There is no suspect information available at this time. Carbondale Police along with SIU Police continue to investigate.
