Blake Alan Mays, 38, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on August 14, 2021 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born July 25, 1983 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Donald Leroy Jr. and Donna M. (Shulte) Mays.

In addition to his parents, Blake is survived by his grandparents, Donald “Duck” L. and Saraetta “Sally” Mays of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandmother, Joan Shulte of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother, Brian Mays and wife, Jenafer of Wesley Chapel, Florida; nephews, Colton and Parker  Mays; niece, Annalyse Mays; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Blake was preceded in death by grandfather, Art Shulte. Mr. Mays proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Mount Vernon American Legion. Blake loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 11:00 am with Father Joel Seipp officiating. Full Military Rites will be held by American Legion Post #141. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made in Blake’s honor to Mount Vernon American Legion.
