SALEM, IL — Five people were injured in a Wednesday afternoon crash on northbound I-57.

Illinois State Police say 3 vehicles were stopped in the northbound lanes due to road construction when 52-year-old Dean Weber of Jackson, MO failed to reduce speed causing a chain reaction crash. Weber hit an SUV driven by a 16-year-old female juvenile from Houlton, Wisconsin and pushed her vehicle into 77-year-old Daniel Field’s pickup truck. Field is from Jackson, MO. Field was then pushed into a semi-driven by 42-year-old Ala Abdallah of Burbank, Illinois.

Weber was transported from the scene by medical helicopter with serious injuries and was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Other injuries included the three passengers in the juvenile’s car, 43-year-old Kristin Siskow was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries while a 14-year-old juvenile and 46-year-old Eric Siskow were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. All three are from Houlton, WI. Field was also transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

The crash took place near milepost 121 five miles north of the Salem exit Wednesday around 2:20pm.
