CARMI, IL — A man was killed in an oilfield accident in White County late Monday night.

According to White County Sheriff Randy Graves, White County 911 received a call from an employee of Consolidated Drilling Services around 10:50 p.m. saying they were drilling an oil well south of Carmi. The employee reported they were loading oilfield pipe into tubs when the elevator latch came undone and the pipe they were loading struck employee Joseph Musgrave. White County Ambulance and the White County Sheriff’s Office both responded to the accident.

Musgrave was taken to Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, where he was pronounced dead.
