SALEM, IL — Bail was set at $100,000 Tuesday in Marion County Court for a 23-year-old St. Peter woman charged with felony drug and weapons charges. According to Salem police, they arrested Hailey Sarchet Monday night when they responded to a report of a woman waiving a handgun in the 1000 block of North Howard.

Upon their arrival, officers reportedly found Sarchet sitting in a vehicle in the driveway of a home. The officers had her exit the vehicle and took her into custody. Officers allegedly located a large amount of cannabis in plain view in the vehicle and also discovered other drug-related items upon closer inspection. A more thorough search of the vehicle then reportedly revealed a handgun that was determined to be stolen out of Vandalia. Sarchet was taken to the Marion County Jail where she remains.

She was formally charged Tuesday in Marion County Court with Class 3 felony delivery of between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis and Class 4 felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. She’s next scheduled to appear in court August 17 for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with her court appointed attorney.
