SALEM, IL — A 34-year-old rural Kell man has been arrested in connection with the break-in and burglary last month of a Salem tavern. Salem police arrested Beau Morton Friday for the burglary and criminal damage to the Coaches Corner on West Main Street.

Video obtained from gambling machines reportedly led police to arrest Morton as the person who had entered the building through a hatch on the roof before damaging the machine and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash. Posters from inside the bar were removed from the walls during the incident and placed in the dumpster while cases of alcohol were stacked near the back door.

Morton, who it’s believed acted alone, was arrested late Friday afternoon while at another video gaming business.
