MT. VERNON, IL — A 36-year-old Mt. Vernon woman was arrested by the Mt. Vernon Police Department / Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division for Aggravated Possession of 15-100 grams of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Aggravated Possession of 1-15 grams of Fentanyl with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Controlled Substances, and Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer.

Shawna Shook was taken into custody around 3:55pm last Friday by detectives with the Narcotics Division after they attempted to stop Shawna Shook her from leaving in a vehicle which contained illegal narcotics. As the detective attempted to open the vehicle door to take Shook into custody, she attempted to flee, causing the detective to fall onto the road and sustain minor injuries. Shook was stopped a short distance away by a squad car and was taken into custody without further incident. A quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and schedule II controlled substances were located in the vehicle. At the time of her arrest, Shook was on IDOC Mandatory Supervised Release and an IDOC warrant was issued for the new offenses.

Shook was incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail with bond later set at $100,000.
