MT. VERNON, IL — A 43-year-old Mt. Vernon man is facing a Class X felony charge of distributing between 15 and 100 grams of methamphetamine following his arrest Tuesday morning. According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Michael Wade was arrested Tuesday morning when an officer conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle.

During the traffic stop, the officer reportedly observed a small amount of meth when speaking with Wade. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine. Wade was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver 15-100 grams of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Class X charge was filed Wednesday morning in Jefferson County Court. Bail in the case remains to be set and Wade remains in the Jefferson County Jail.
