MT. VERNON, IL — The Mt. Vernon City Council amended and approved an ordinance granting conditional use for a moving and storage operation within the existing building at 500 S. 10th Street, formerly the Borowiak’s IGA building. The petitioning party, Alan Sinn, owns 2 storage facility locations in the Fairview Heights and Belleville area. The council had a lengthy discussion about keeping that area of town cleaned up after all the work that has already been done.

Mayor John Lewis says he likes that the business will be in-step with the industrial district feel of that part of town.

The amendment to the ordinance is conditional on Sinn using landscaping, rod-iron fencing, etc…for proper upkeep as well as modeling the Mt. Vernon location after his other two facilities.
