MT. VERNON, IL — Pizza Man of Mt. Vernon has officially announced the closing of its doors this week. A staple in the city since 1972 cites a lack of employees to keep the business running.

Kris Chamness currently owns Pizza Man and has since 2011 said his parents, the late Lendell Prior and Jackie Prior who is still with us, took over the location in 1989. Chamness says the business has not been at full staff capacity for months. They’re currently only six employees working more than their fair share of hours to attempt to keep Pizza Man up and going. According to a social media post, Chamness says, “we can’t keep killing the workers we do have with these long hours. They are being worked to the max and complaints are continuing to pile up”. Chamness went on to thank all the workers and customers in the post.

Pizza Man expects to close whenever the ingredients they have inventoried finally runs out.
