FAYETTE COUNTY, IL — After nearly five hours of deliberation, a Fayette County jury found a 43-year-old Brownstown man not guilty Wednesday of one count aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Jurors were handed the 2018 case against Jason D. McCaslin around 9:45 a.m. and returned their verdict around 2:40 p.m.
McCaslin was charged in separate cases with one count each Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The charges accused McCaslin of having committed acts of sexual penetration with two separate victims who were between the ages 13 and 17.
He’s scheduled for a May 17 jury trial in the second case, with a May 4 final pre-trial hearing.
