Patsy A. Chelf, 76, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 1:27 am April 4, 2021 at her residence in Bluford, Illinois. She was born July 30, 1944 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Lewis Osborn and Margaret Opal (Beckham) Morgan. Patsy married Gary Melton and he preceded her in death. Patsy later married James William Chelf on February 5, 1974 and they were blessed with nearly sixteen years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 5, 1990.
Patsy is survived by children, Michael Allen Melton of Bonnie, Illinois, Angela Dawn Choate and spouse, Dana of O’Fallon, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Pamela Mullins; siblings, Charlie Morgan and wife, Debbie of Bonnie, Illinois, Jim Morgan, Linda Smith and husband, Kenny of Irvington, Illinois, Robert Morgan and wife, Patsy of Ina, Illinois; grandchildren, Daniel Melton, Danielle Melton, Jaime Childers and husband, Derick, Collin Melton, Kailee Richardson and husband, Brandon, Ryan Pierce and wife, Brittany, Krystal Bruha; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Utlaut, Paige Utlaut, Preston Utlaut, Teagan Childers, Jeslyn Childers, Adelin Childers, Rylan Richardson, Bristol Richardson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Patsy was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Melton; grandson, Joshua Melton; and siblings, Van, Lucy, Mable, Jane, John, Lewis, Martha, Enoch, Virginia, and Terry.
Patsy worked as a LPN and surgical nurse for many years. She also served as the event coordinator for Relay for Life for Crossroads Community Hospital. Patsy has also worked as an in-home caregiver. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 10:30 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Charlie Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Patsy’s honor to Stroked Out Bullies in care of Jaime Childers.
