WAYNE COUNTY, IL — A 14-year-old girl from Geff was killed in a crash Friday afternoon in Wayne County. According to the Illinois State Police, the girl was a passenger in a pickup truck involved in a two-vehicle crash on Enterprise Road at the Illinois Route 161 Extension in Elm River Township.

Crash reports say the pickup truck, driven by 18-year-old Shelby Shelton of Geff was traveling westbound on the Route 161 Extension when it collided with a northbound car that failed to stop at the stop sign at the Enterprise Road intersection. The other car was driven by 20-year-old Dulani Woodland of Mattoon. After impact, Shelton ran off the right side of the road and overturned several times, with the truck coming to rest on its roof. The 14-year-old girl was pronounced dead on the scene. Both drivers and a 16-year-old from Fairfield who was also a passenger in the pickup were all airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.

The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation.
