MT. VERNON, IL — Two Mt. Vernon residents were taken into custody Tuesday by the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Joint Narcotics Unit.

MVPD/JCSO law enforcement executed a search warrant around 2pm on South 26th in Mt. Vernon. Quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug equipment were located at the home. As a result of the investigation 60-year-old Gary A. Obryant, was arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver 5 – 15 grams of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Equipment. His bond was set at $125,000.

Also, 40-year-old Rachel N. White was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Equipment. Her bond is set at $20,000.

The search warrant was a result of on-going investigations related to the sales of narcotics in the Mt. Vernon and Jefferson County area.
