WEST FRANKFORT, IL — A Friday night homicide is still under investigation in West Frankfort.

West Frankfort Police Chief John Prudent says around 9:07 p.m., the police department received a 911 call reporting that a male had been shot in the 700 block of South Skelton Street. When officers arrived they found the male that had been shot several times. West Frankfort Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and took the male to Herrin Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police are not releasing the victim’s name at this time.

West Frankfort Police and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services continue to investigate.
