CENTRALIA, IL — A 32-year-old Clay City man was arrested on drug charges over the weekend when Centralia police were investigating a hit-and-run crash. According to Centralia Police, Jermiah Leigh was questioned after his pickup truck broke down Saturday at Calumet and Airport Road.

Officers reportedly discovered had a catalytic converter in the bed of his truck that Leigh reportedly admitted to removing from a vehicle in Clay County with plans to take it to a salvage business to sell for scrap. He was also reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine at the time of the stop. Police first found Leigh while investigating an earlier hit-and-run crash at Pine and Calumet. A 16-year-old Clay City juvenile who was a passenger in the car was taken into custody on a no-bond juvenile warrant.

Leigh was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on charges Monday, while the juvenile was transported to the Franklin County Juvenile detention center.
