MARION, IL — The City of Marion is moving along with plans to begin July 1st putting 10 permanent murals on historic buildings located in the downtown area. Allison Hasler, the City’s Director of Community Programs, shares with us where the murals will be located.

The City is currently accepting applications from artists for the mural project until March 7th. The original deadline was set for this Sunday.

Hasler says an award of $1,500 will be given to each concept selected. The City is also seeking $200,000 for the project through the National Endowment for the Arts, which Hasler says the City won’t know until April if and how much they will receive.

You can find an application and more information on the City’s website at cityofmarionil.gov.
