MT. VERNON, IL — Illinois House Bill 3653 was signed into law by Governor JB Pritzker Monday. Law enforcement has been very outspoken about their displeasure with the language and the lack of inclusion of experts in the field into the forming of this Criminal Justice Reform Bill.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard says police reform is always a good thing, but this oversized bill goes too far.

Trailer bills are now in talks to modify language as well as overall laws set forth in HB-3653. Sheriff Bullard says he’s please to hear the Governor has began more of an open dialogue as of now with law enforcement experts to bring true reform and positive change.
