CARMI, IL — A man is facing charges following an incident in Carmi Friday. According to a Carmi Police report, officers responded to 127 Fair Street on a report of a man displaying knives and threatening to cut people up as well as himself.

Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect was 27-year-old Charles Ray Kerns of Carmi and the victim was his mother, 56-year-old Bonnie K. Kerns of Carmi. Kerns was later arrested and charged with domestic violence related offenses related to aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Kerns was taken to the White County Jail without incident.
