MT. VERNON, IL — One person has died in a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon. According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened around 2:15pm on northbound I-57 at the milepost 94 exit ramp.
ISP says the driver of a black Dodge truck attempted to exit when the driver failed to negotiate the turn and struck the rear of a semi pulling a trailer that was stopped on the right shoulder just past the ramp. The driver of the Dodge truck was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner. The driver’s name is not being released until family members are notified. The driver of the semi, 26-year-old Kadeem Lindsay of Orlando, Florida and his passenger, 39-year-old Reder Rancy of Springfield, Missouri, were not hurt.
The crash is still under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
