SALEM, IL — A 53-year-old Salem man was arrested over the weekend after Salem police received a complaint from a woman that a window was broke out in her car while she was at the man’s home. Bail was set Monday in Marion County Court at $10,000 for Jerry Vanhoutin and he was charged with Class 2 felony unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and misdemeanor criminal damage to property.

If Vanhoutin posts bond and is released from jail, he’s prohibited from having contact with the alleged victim and has been ordered to abstain from alcohol, drugs, and cannabis.

He’s next scheduled to appear on the charges March 2nd for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with his court appointed attorney.
