MARION COUNTY, IL — Formal charges have been handed down and bond has been set for a rural Salem man that was arrested over the weekend on drug, weapons and sexual assault charges following a traffic stop on Selmaville Road.

21-year-old Hayden Wimberly was stopped Saturday night after a relative of Wimberly’s reported a vehicle being stolen from their Centralia home. However, no charges have been filed in connection with that original report. Wimberly is charged with unlawful use of a weapon for having a loaded gun in the vehicle without proper storage or documentation, possession of less than five grams of meth, and criminal sexual abuse. The sex abuse charge comes after a Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigation that Wimberly reportedly had sexual contact with an underaged, juvenile victim who was unable to give consent.

His bond was set at $10,000.
