JEFFERSON/MARION COUNTIES, IL — The United Way of South Central Illinois has been appointed administrator of $38,438 for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). $19,890 is available to Jefferson County and $18,548 to Marion County for private voluntary nonprofits, faith-based or local units of government.

Natalie Wellen is the Executive Director at United Way. She says although the funding will go directly to organizations in the two counties, those organizations will turn that funding into services for their communities.

A board comprised of local community leaders along with UWSCI will determine funding allocation through a competitive application process. If you’d like your organization to apply contact the office by phone at 242-8000 for more information.

Applications must be received by January 15, 2021 at 5:00 pm.
