Mt. Vernon man taken into custody Tuesday morning for a 2019 burglary near Walnut Hill

MT. VERNON, IL — A rural Mt. Vernon man was arrested Tuesday as the result of a December 7th, 2019 burglary investigation. 37-year-old Stephen M. Storment was taken into custody around 11:35 by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant charging him with the residential burglary of a home in the 7500 block of E. Grant Road between Walnut Hill and Dix.

Storment was identified as the offender in multiple burglaries and thefts and those cases are still under investigation.

He was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $78,000 on the burglary warrant as well as charges of Theft and Violation of Bail bond.
