FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL — The sheriff’s office in Franklin County Thursday arrested and charged a Logan man, who they say is known to be a child sex offender, after sheriff’s deputies responded to an ambulance call at a child daycare facility just outside of West Frankfort.

Sheriff David Bartoni says 43-year-old Donald L. Singleton is charged for presence within a school zone by a child sex offender and unlawful possession of methamphetamine – both Class 4 felonies.

When deputies arrived, they found Singleton and his vehicle parked in front of the daycare. Singleton was taken into custody for being present in a school zone by a sex offender. After Singleton’s arrest, an amount of meth being less than 5 grams was found in his possession.

Singleton is being held in the Franklin County Jail awaiting bail and formal charges.
