ILLINOIS (WITHERS BROADCASTING) — Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has announced Driver Services facilities statewide will be closed to the public for in-person transactions effective immediately due to the worsening COVID-19 pandemic. The facilities will reopen on Monday, Dec. 7.

Henry Haupt with the Secretary of State’s office says using online services has doubled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and the office hopes to see that number continue to grow. He says he expects in doing so, this should help the overload of people coming back into facilities once they reopen.

Secretary White noted that across the state, 19 CDL (Commercial Driver License) facilities will remain open for written and road exams and 7 facilities are offering drive-through services for license plate sticker transactions only.
